Entering items and customers one at a time — and where to go instead if you've got a lot of them.
Creating a customer from scratch.
Web: go to Items & Purchases → Item List and click Add Item. App: tap Add Item. Choose Product or Service, enter Name, Purchase Rate, Sales Rate, Opening Stock and Re-order Level, then Add to List — repeat for more items, then Save.
To add a customer one at a time: Sales & Customers → Customer Center → Create Customer (web), or the Add Customers icon (app).
Enter Name, Email, Phone and Address, then Add to List → Save.
A phone number is what makes a customer reachable — no number means Customer Follow-Up, restock alerts and WhatsApp can never reach them.
Selling price and cost are kept separate and protected: an item's selling price lives only on the Item screen, so entering a purchase or a stock adjustment later can never accidentally change what you charge for it.
Got a lot of items or customers already sitting in a spreadsheet, or a paper you'd rather photograph? See "Bulk-upload items, customers or prices from a spreadsheet" and "Scan a paper sheet with your camera" — both cover customers as well as items.
Customers who already owed you before SmartShop: type the amount in Balance brought in when you create them, or add them later from Customer Center -> Balances brought in.
